When you need advice, especially with regards to your dreams and careers, friends may be the worst to turn to and the same goes for parents. We may be judged not by what we did to help others, but what we didn't do when we could have. When do you give advice and to whom? The right advice could keep you from being poisoned or stabbed. Rocky tried to give advice (and failed). 'Screw you, Creepo.' Walter White from 'Breaking Bad' heard advice and listened. 'No more half measures, Walter.'
