Blog posts are one of the most effective tools when it comes to content marketing. That being said, there are many different types of blog posts and not all of them are guaranteed to convert reader to customer.

1: original research posts

People go nuts for original research. They read it, share it, interact with it—it’s the content holy grail.

However, it’s hands down the most difficult and time consuming to produce. It’s a huge undertaking, but one of the most fruitful pieces of content you can produce today. Not only will you build up anticipationfrom the people who took part in research, but your posts will get cited, get oodles of backlinks, and likely show up in presentations years after the original research went live (even if it’s out of date).

2: checklist posts

Who doesn’t want to go through a piece of content that tells them exactly what to do and, if they follow it, they have a deliverable?

This instantly makes your content actionable for your audience and once they’ve taken one action and gotten over any level of doubt in your brand or self-doubt in themselves, they’ll take another action.

Posts like, “5 copywriting elements you should test”, “10-point blog post audit”, “15-point landing page checklist”, etc.… are all checklist style posts that generate a deliverable at the end.

3: pillar posts

A piece of pillar content is your thesis—it’s why you exist; it separates you from everyone else out there.

Pillar content is your evergreen content that becomes your backlink magnet and an amazing way to help you create derivative work for future posts.

These posts are normally huge and should be accompanied by a pdf download so people can read it later.

4: content aggregator posts

Who doesn’t have a folder full of email, ad, social, and landing page swipe files?

The fact is, we tend to emulate (even when we shouldn’t). It’s much harder to start with a blank page/canvas.

Swipe files that show examples of great instagram video ads with commentary are a great device to help inspire your audience and get those creative juices flowing.

Want to create something memorable that stands out as one of the faces of your business but doesn’t know how or where to begin? Hello there, my name is César, I’m an intern for the International Institute of Digital Marketing and I’d like to guide you through the “basics” when crafting a new logo for your brand or business. When designing a new logo you have to keep in mind a few things: - Uniqueness: Even though it can have similarities with other logos, it must stand out from that multitude of logos with similar elements. - Know your targeted audience: Adapt your logo to attract the possible customers you want to have. Is it for kids? Try something that can catch their sight and make their parents trust what you are selling. Is it for teens? The bigger market there but, what kind of teens? - Find the design that fits your brand the most: We can either have tons of elements in our logo yet it must communicate the message that you as a brand are trying to transmit. A logo that’s just full of things you like won’t do, sometimes less is more. After this, we need to focus on the harmony of the whole logo, meaning that we must select the right elements in terms of shapes, colors, and typography. There are seven types of logos, the most common are: - Logo symbol: This is that a symbol that represents your brand, and when people see it they know which brand it is. Apple, Twitter, Spotify. - Monogram: Like an acronym, shortens the whole name of your brand if it’s too long or too difficult to remember. H&M, NASA, CNN. - Logotype: The name of the brand as it is, must be catchy and have readable typography. Google, Coca-Cola. - Combination mark: Mixes elements from the previous ones to make a whole.Burger King, Taco Bell, Doritos. Now, keep in mind that colors, like shapes, have different meanings, and mixing some of them adds or removes some of those meanings to the image. Be sure to select the colors that will make your brand stand out and say: “Hey, look at me! You want this.” Finally, remember to have fun while designing, this doesn’t need to be stressful. ¿Quieres crear algo memorable que destaque como una de las caras de tu negocio pero no sabes cómo o por dónde empezar? Hola, me llamo César, soy becario del Instituto Internacional de Marketing Digital y me gustaría guiarte por los "fundamentos" a la hora de elaborar un nuevo logotipo para tu marca o negocio. A la hora de diseñar un nuevo logotipo hay que tener en cuenta algunas cosas: - Singularidad. Tu logo debe ser único: Aunque pueda tener similitudes con otros logotipos, debe destacar entre esa multitud de logotipos con elementos similares. - Conoce a tu audiencia: Adapta tu logotipo para atraer a los posibles clientes que quieres tener. ¿Es para niños? Prueba con algo que les llame la atención y haga que sus padres confíen en lo que vendes. ¿Es para adolescentes? Ahí el mercado es más grande pero, ¿qué tipo de adolescentes? - Encuentra el diseño que más se adapte a tu marca: Podemos tener toneladas de elementos en nuestro logotipo, pero debe comunicar el mensaje que tú, como marca, intentas transmitir. Un logotipo sólo lleno de cosas que te gustan no servirá, a veces menos es más. Después de esto, tenemos que centrarnos en la armonía de todo el logotipo, lo que significa que debemos seleccionar los elementos adecuados en cuanto a formas, colores y tipografía. Hay siete tipos de logotipos, de entre los cuales los más comunes son: - Isotipo: Un símbolo que representa a tu marca y cuando la gente lo ve sabe de qué marca se trata. Apple, Twitter, Spotify. - Monograma: Como un acrónimo, acorta el nombre completo de tu marca si es demasiado largo o difícil de recordar, generalmente es usado en formato de siglas. H&M, NASA, CNN. - Logotipo: El nombre de la marca tal cual, debe ser pegadizo y tener una tipografía legible. Google, Coca-Cola. Isologo: Mezcla de los anteriores para hacer un todo. Asegúrate de seleccionar los colores que harán que tu marca destaque y diga: "¡Eh, mírame! Tú quieres esto". Por último, recuerda divertirte mientras diseñas, esto no tiene por qué ser estresante. So the first thing you want to do is know the domain. Now, after you understand the domains, the second step is to choose your niche. Your focus can be in a niche space such as LinkedIN Marketing or you can follow the mass market such as facebook advertising or instagram advertising. Otherwise, it can be in other forms such as email marketing. The choice is totally yours! Step number 3: After understanding your niche, what you need to do is to understand the algorithm of things. So start learning the mechanism of things. I don’t mean that you have to learn coding or CSS of the app, what I mean here is to understand how you can be the best in this particular “domain” that you have chosen. One pro tip is to follow experts in the field because they are the best leaders and teachers you can find. Step number 4: forming community Digital marketing is an inexact science. Unlike maths where 1+1=2, Digital marketing is all about creativity and freestyling. You may be surprised even the weirdest and wackiest ideas may be successful. It is important to form a community because it allows us to exchange ideas and ways of doing things. And you should know the best way of learning is through communicating and executing (doing) The next step is step 5: staying relevant We know all advanced technology is. Even our mobile phone apps have daily, weekly and monthly updates, this proves how fast technology is advancing. So we have to stay relevant, to be on track with new marketing trends such as AR/VR or new platforms such as TikTok , so that we can understand the market. One pro tip is to read the news and network with like-minded people! And last but not least, we have to ensure continuous learning and continuous practicing. Just like the Japanese philosophy of KAIZEN, we as digital marketers have to stay curious and hungry, and always wanting to improve so that we can better add value to others. I’ll be discussing some do’s and don’ts when it comes to digital marketing responsibly and sustainably. To start off, we have our don’ts. Firstly, don’t greenwash. This is the act of companies exaggerating the “eco-friendliness” of their products or their brand. They only engage in calling themselves environmentally friendly as it provides positive press and perceptions from customers. As such, it is important for businesses to be transparent and convey the right information to their audience. Next, don’t do performative activism. Performative activism can be closely related to greenwashing but encompasses a wider array of societal issues. Brands need to back up their statements with actions and ensure that what they are putting out on their digital platforms is a reflection of truth and transparency. Last, don’t be culturally insensitive. With the world becoming increasingly more globalized, it is important to be sensitive to different groups of people. Brands have a responsibility to be sensitive to their audience, and as such be aware of the messages they put out through their marketing. Now that we’ve discussed our don’ts. Let's go to our dos! DO number one: get your customers engaged. In digital marketing, try to incorporate contests, giveaways, and other activities to keep the consumers engaged. Next, do stick to your vision and mission. As we discuss greenwashing and performative activism, the main takeaway is to stick to your vision and mission. Lastly, do be transparent when dealing with your brand.
