Episode 12 - Friday, June 30, 1978

Thank Garfield it's Friday! Today's strip is, honestly, not all that great, but nonetheless proves fodder for a spirited discussion of acronyms, feline vs. human anatomy, and (implicitly) recent policy changes at the Federal Reserve Open Market Committee.

Couldn't find live footage of this one anywhere, but it's such a classic. Maybe also worth mentioning that we give the wrong date in the intro to this one. Whatever.Today's strip

I mean, look, I could summarize whatever happens in today's episode of Being Jim Davis, or I could just embed more Les McCann concert footage from YouTube. Right?Today's strip

Episode 133 - Sunday, October 29, 1978

Another Sunday strip, another overlong unreliable monologue about how awesome cats are. This one stands out (if we want to use that term) as it contains apparent supernatural elements. Is this going to be like one of those Simpsons Halloween episodes, where pedantic fans insist on separating it from the official canon so as not to conflict with the general realism underlying the series? No, because of course, as all Garfield readers understand at this point, the strip contains almost no 'underlying realism' to begin with, not to mention the fact that IT ISN'T FUCKING HALLOWEEN TODAY.More importantly, is that Lyman masquerading as a doctor in the last panel as part of some elaborate Marx Brothers-esque farce we didn't get to see???
