Episode 5 - Strength

As highly sensitive people, many of us have grown up feeling like our sensitivity is a weakness, something to be hidden or overcome. But in this episode, we're going to explore the strengths of being highly sensitive and how we can learn to embrace and celebrate our sensitivity.

According to the definition of "sensitive", we are quick to detect and respond to slight changes, signals, or influences, and we have a quick and delicate appreciation of others' feelings. These are powerful strengths that enable us to be deeply empathetic and compassionate towards others, as well as perceptive and intuitive in our own lives.

Unfortunately, society often values toughness, resilience, and detachment over sensitivity, leading many of us to feel like our sensitivity is a liability. But the truth is that sensitivity is not a weakness - it is a superpower. When we embrace our sensitivity and learn to harness its strengths, we can achieve great things.

For example, as highly sensitive people, we are often deeply committed to social justice and making the world a better place. We care deeply about the well-being of others and are willing to put in the hard work to create change. Our sensitivity allows us to see and feel things that others might miss, giving us a unique perspective on the world and the issues that matter most.

In addition, our sensitivity can make us excellent listeners and communicators. We are attuned to the emotions and needs of others, which can help us build strong, supportive relationships. We are also often great at picking up on nonverbal cues, which can be especially valuable in certain professions, such as coaching or therapy.

Robbie doesn't hold back in this episode and we can all hear her passion about this subject. Can we learn to say "thank you for noticing my sensitivity and you're welcome" instead of feeling bad about it? I'm certainly going to try that out.

If you're a highly sensitive person, know that your sensitivity is a strength, not a weakness. Embrace your superpower and use it to create positive change in the world. Remember that it's not always easy to be sensitive in a world that often values toughness over tenderness, but you are not alone. By connecting with other highly sensitive people and learning to speak up for yourself, you can thrive and make a difference.
