Breaking The Stigma of Mental Health | Dr. Dawn Crosson, Psy.D Ep. 135

Breaking The Stigma of Mental Health | Dr. Dawn Crosson, Psy.D Ep. 135

"SOMETIMES THE PEOPLE AROUND YOU WON'T UNDERSTAND YOUR JOURNEY. THEY DON'T NEED TO, IT'S NOT FOR THEM."

Joubert Botha

Something that stops so many of us from reaching out to others in times of crisis is the potential backlash we might get from needing to reach out in the first place. How sad is it that the thing we need the most is within reach yet so far away because of the social environments we find ourselves in?

Without a safe space to feel comfortable, valued, and heard, we're bound to stay trapped in our minds, digging deeper into the depths of our subconscious and letting negative self talk take root.

Don't let your mind become tainted. It's time to clear out the garden and pull some weeds.

My guest today, Dr. Dawn Crosson is a Licensed Psychologist and Certified Trauma Therapist. She brings over 24 years of experience in the world of psychology to us on today's episode. Her work has spanned topics such as Parenting, Conduct Disorders, Mood Disorders, Reactive Attachment Disorder, and Sexual Abuse.

Her insights and tips are tools we can all use to reaffirm our positions in life, gather motivation in ourselves, and build the confidence we need to move forward. Hop into today's episode as we discuss:

  • Going from discouraged to determined
  • Realizing you have everything you need within you
  • Developing adequate coping skills
  • Learning to prioritize self-care
  • Committing to your faith
  • Not taking on anyone else's stuff

And more!

Also, you won't want to miss a special shoutout to all the amazing women and women of color out there who continue to crush it each and every day! Please know that this month and EVERY month of the year, you are seen, valued, and appreciated.
