183: How to Deliver a Knock Out Presentation: Public Speaking Secrets Revealed with Peter George

"When you're asked to speak in front of others, you did not win a lottery to get there. You were chosen for a particular reason. You have something to share with others. So, look at it that way." -Peter George

Public speaking is a skill that we have to do at some point in our lives. It can be a nerve-wracking experience; so much so that we forget what we were supposed to talk about!

In most cases, the fear of public speaking is not in the actual speech itself rather in the anticipation of it. It is often difficult to come up with a good opening statement or story that will captivate an audience. And it certainly is even more terrifying to think that we might mess up and make a fool out of ourselves. The thing is, we are not there to embarrass ourselves. We are there to help and make a difference. So, what could possibly go wrong?

Now that we have the right intention, the only thing left to do is deliver it with impact. And that is what our guest, Public Speaking Coach Peter George, expands on today. Ted and Peter answer the most intriguing questions about public speaking and communication- Should you engage in public speaking? What are the benefits of public speaking? What is the difference between speaking and communication? How do you prepare and rehearse for your presentation? How can you overcome stage fright? How can you manage your nervousness? Should you go for a script or bullet points? And the most asked question of all time: What do you do with your hands? Tune in!
