SES’s sustainability journey: ESG in orbit with Amber Ledgerwood

Welcome to our sustainability and environmental, social and governance (ESG) podcast series. Each episode features business leaders from across the telecoms, media and technology (TMT) industry who discuss what sustainability and ESG means to them, their organisation and the industry as a whole.

In this episode, Analysys Mason's Maria Tunberg, Partner and expert in sustainability and Anurag Dey, Manager and expert in sustainability, talk to Amber Ledgerwood, Head of Social and Environmental Impact at SES.

SES is a global satellite operator based in Luxembourg. Their dedicated ESG team looks for opportunities to leverage SES’s space-based capabilities to advance key sustainable development initiatives – including combatting climate change. SES relaunched their ESG strategy in 2021 to align with the UN’s Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).

In this podcast, the authors discuss:

  • the sustainability and ESG-related opportunities within the space sector right now
  • how the space sector can support the sustainability of other industries
  • SES’s ESG strategy for both space and earth
  • how to measure the success of ESG strategies
  • the development of ESG in the space sector and what this will look like in the decade to come
  • overcoming the biggest challenges for sustainability within the space sector.
