Battles Of Valverde | Island Number Ten

Battles Of Valverde | Island Number Ten

After our first major battle of 1862, we move on to the Confederate's first win since December which they pick up at the Battle of Valverde on February 20-21, 1862. We then move to another class A battle with the very important Battle of Island Number Ten. With a Union win it was the first time the Confederates lost a position on the Mississippi River and it opened up a route to Fort Pillow not far from the important city of Memphis.
