DeFi By Design EP 122: The Importance of Shared Sequencing in The Modular Thesis

Change is coming.

The era of centralized rollup sequencers is coming to an abrupt halt as builders realize the importance of a shared, decentralized sequencer network to power their censorship-resistant, minimized rollup infrastructure.

In today's podcast, we sit down with co-founder of Espresso Systems, Charles Liu, to discuss the possibilities of rollup interoperability and the modular stack using Espresso's sequencer network.

We are quite bullish on this movement as the modular rollup thesis continues to push on. It seems obvious that centralized 'chokepoints' so to speak are likely a bottleneck for maximum scale, something that Ethereum is trying to achieve through the rollup-centric roadmap. In this EP, we dive into this and other pressing topics regarding the state of Rollups as we know them today.

With the recent announcement of Gibraltar testnet supporting Arbitrum, and more to come, Espresso is one to keep tabs on.

Hope you guys enjoy!
