The 30-Day Sugar Detox

The 30-Day Sugar Detox

SUBSCRIBE TO MY NEWSLETTER HERE: https://bit.ly/3NOo9bw What will happen if you cut sugar out of your diet for thirty days? Let’s talk about it. Metabolic flexibility is a term used to describe how smoothly and efficiently your cells can adapt to utilize and burn fuel like fat, ketones, or glucose. When you’re metabolically inflexible, this transition is very dysfunctional. Your ability to burn fat in a fasting state will be very difficult. If you can’t lose weight when fasting or exercising, this could be why. Metabolic inflexibility can lead to diabetes, obesity, loss of muscle protein, and chronic illnesses. It can also cause irritability, fatigue, anxiety, and hunger. When you try to fast, you won’t feel very good, and you’ll miss out on certain benefits if you’re not metabolically flexible. Insulin resistance is at the heart of this problem. Insulin controls whether you burn fat or not. If someone is metabolically inflexible, they have insulin resistance. Insulin tells the body not to burn fat and to store fat instead. On the flip side, metabolic flexibility is really insulin sensitivity, and there are ways to make the body more metabolically flexible or insulin sensitive. When you become more metabolically flexible, you’ll be able to fast for longer without hunger or cravings, burn fat, and burn sugar more efficiently. How to transition your body into a state of metabolic flexibility and insulin sensitivity: 1. Eat less frequently 2. Eat fewer carbohydrates 3. Eat sufficient amounts of fat, but not excessive amounts of fat 4. Try exercise snacking (do short bouts of exercise throughout the day) If you do these things for thirty days, it could have a significant positive impact on improving your metabolic flexibility and your overall health. The Best Diet & Exercise for Stubborn Belly Fat

The Best Diet & Exercise for Stubborn Belly Fat

SUBSCRIBE TO MY NEWSLETTER HERE: https://bit.ly/3H7eFo6 Today, I’m going to cover the best ways to get rid of belly fat, central fat, or mid-section fat. Belly fat or visceral fat is fat that is outside of the fat cells—it’s in the organs, especially the liver. If you have belly fat, you have a fatty liver. Insulin resistance is what leads to fat on the liver to begin with. Insulin is a fat-storing hormone, and it prevents weight loss. Cortisol is another hormone that can make it difficult to lose weight. How to get rid of stubborn belly fat fast: 1. Reduce stress and support sleep by doing aerobic exercise (long walks or physical work). Burn fat by doing high-intensity interval training without overtraining (two to three times a week). 2. Get your body into ketosis. Reduce the amount of carbohydrates and sugar in your diet. 3. Don’t consume excess dietary fat, but don’t go on a low-fat diet either. Don’t consume less than 75 grams of fat per day. 4. Support your liver. Consume apple cider vinegar (1 tbsp. apple cider vinegar mixed into 12 oz. of water). Take milk thistle and berberine. 5. Do OMAD (one meal a day). Intermittent fasting is the most important thing for fast weight loss and to support a healthy body. Consume red meat several times a week when you do consume meals. 6. Stay aware of what works and what doesn’t. Evaluate your environment, create healthy habits, and stay consistent. What to Eat to Clean Out Your Arteries—Dr. Berg Explains

What to Eat to Clean Out Your Arteries—Dr. Berg Explains

In this podcast, we’re going to talk about what to eat to support the health of your arteries. First, let’s take a look at the foods and substances that can lead to heart disease in the first place. Heart problems begin in the endothelial layer of your arteries—the permeable membrane that lines your vascular system and lymphatic system. Inflammation is induced when the endothelial layer of your arteries is exposed to the following: •Stress •Sugar •Refined carbohydrates •Seed oils (canola, soy, corn) •Chronic alcohol use •Chronic smoking habits The Coronary Artery Calcification Test (CAC test) and the Heart Rate Variability test are excellent predictors of mortality by assessing damage in your cardiovascular system. You can also measure the small-dense particle size of LDL, test your homocysteine levels, and test for the MTHFR gene. Fortunately, there are foods that can help clean out your arteries and undo cardiovascular damage. Here are nine foods that can unclog and support the health of your arteries: 1. Omega-3 from salmon, sardines, other fatty fish, and cod liver 2. Extra virgin olive oil 3. Dark leafy greens 4. Authentic parmesan cheese (Parmigiano) 5. Nutritional yeast (non-fortified) 6. Raw sauerkraut 7. Almonds 8. Liver 9. Grass-fed red meat DATA: https://www.nytimes.com/2019/09/30/he...

7 Foods that RUIN Your Liver - Dr. Berg Explains

SUBSCRIBE TO MY NEWSLETTER HERE: https://bit.ly/420IyAh Today, I’m going to cover the top foods that can destroy your liver. Unfortunately, these foods are very common, especially in restaurants. There are three main problems that occur in the liver: inflammation, fatty liver disease, and scar tissue. Scar tissue in the liver can lead to cirrhosis. While alcohol is a big culprit when it comes to liver issues, many people are facing a condition called non-alcoholic fatty liver disease. Even young kids are being affected by this condition. The good news is that the liver can take a beating and regenerate. But, there is a point of limitation. The worst foods for your liver: 1. Fried foods 2. Canned meat products 3. TV dinners 4. Nachos 5. Canned tomato soup 6. Foods with high fructose corn syrup 7. Foods that contain aflatoxins The best foods to support the liver: • Cruciferous vegetables • High-quality, grass-fed protein • Eggs • Cod liver or cod liver oil • Fatty fish

How to Use Your Feet to Diagnose Liver Problems—Dr. Berg Explains

How to Use Your Feet to Diagnose Liver Problems—Dr. Berg Explains

In this podcast, we’re going to take a look at some of the different foot symptoms you may be experiencing and connect them to the health of your liver. One common sign of liver problems is red and brown spots on the lower leg. These spots are caused by poor circulation and are often seen in people who have diabetes or cirrhosis of the liver. When the liver isn't functioning properly, you may experience bruising and discoloration. You may also notice that the lower leg is swollen and shiny and no longer grows hair. Pitting edema may accompany these symptoms. The good news about liver problems is that the liver is one of the only organs that can completely regenerate itself! Spider veins, whether in the lower leg and foot or anywhere else on the body, signify that the liver can no longer regulate estrogen. Excess estrogen can cause a fatty liver and problems with your bile ducts, which can lead to gallstones. Dry, cracked heels or generally dry feet are symptoms of an omega-3 deficiency. The liver makes bile, which helps you break down and absorb fat-soluble vitamins and nutrients. If you have liver damage, it will be difficult to absorb omega-3 fatty acids. Rarely, dry, cracked heels may be related to a B3 deficiency. Other foot-related symptoms that typically signify liver damage include: •Itchy feet •Fungal infections •Inflammatory conditions like arthritis and plantar fasciitis •Foot odor •Hot/cold feet •Toenail fungus •Fungus between toes DATA: https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/arti... https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/arti... https://journals.lww.com/jewds/fullte... https://onlinelibrary.wiley.com/doi/f...

The Top SUPERFOODS for the Kidneys—Explained by Dr. Berg

The Top SUPERFOODS for the Kidneys—Explained by Dr. Berg

In this podcast, we’re going to talk about the best and worst foods when dealing with a kidney problem. The kidneys are composed of complex filters known as nephrons. A proper diet is crucial to support these nephrons. If your nephrons are damaged, you may end up with a build-up of phosphorus, potassium, and sodium. It is essential to avoid junk food and minimize eating out. One of the leading causes of kidney damage is diabetes, which comes from high blood sugar. Avoid sugar and compounds that act like sugar in the body, like refined starches. Drugs, alcohol, certain medications, smoking, and ultra-processed foods all destroy the kidneys. Seed oils like corn oil, soy oil, cottonseed oil, and canola oil contribute to inflammation and damage to the kidneys as well. Here are eight superfoods to include in your diet if you’re dealing with kidney damage: 1. Low phosphorus protein (sardines, salmon, cod, and sea bass) 2. Spirulina 3. Fermented foods (sauerkraut, kimchi, pickles) 4. Avocado 5. Extra virgin olive oil 6. Cottage cheese or goat cheese 7. Vitamin D 8. Baja Gold sea salt If you have kidney damage, you’ll want to avoid foods that are high in oxalates, lectins, and tannins. Avoid things like nuts, spinach, meats high in phosphorus, eggplant, potatoes, beans, and grains. Cat scans to examine damage to the kidney can also be very damaging. Opt for an ultrasound or MRI to assess kidney damage if possible. If you have kidney disease or kidney problems, you can still consume vegetables. The following vegetables are safe options for people with kidney issues: •Asparagus •Celery •Avocado •Cucumber •Garlic •Cabbage •Cauliflower •Mushrooms •Lettuce DATA: https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/arti...
