Devils & Dawson Mercer Are Not Close on a New Contract...Should We Be Concerned?

It's almost September and Dawson Mercer still doesn't have a new contract lined up. It's been reported that he and the front office aren't "close" on a new deal. However, talks are still ongoing. A lot of people are growing impatient and rightfully so. But given Mercer's current circumstance, there are a few bright spots.
