Tyler Seguin joins Stars Royalty | What are the Odds the Dallas Stars WIN the Stanley Cup??

Wyatt Johnston and Jason Robertson score with the extra attacker late as the Stars made a late push but fall to the Montreal Canadiens 4-3. The Canadiens best players, Nick Suzuki, Cole Caufield and Juraj Slafkovsky all had big nights to help Montreal snap a three game losing skid. On today's episode of Locked On Stars, the main takeaway from the loss it multi goal deficits. The Stars have been in that position too many times this season, in a game they should have won and we're clearly the better team they are unable to get points. Joey applauds the effort to even make it a one goal game, but at some point those deficits will catch up to you. Special teams was the deciding factor in the game, Caufiled's tally on the man advantage was the game winner and at the time extended the Canadiens lead to 4-1. The Stars had a chance to tie the game at two in the 2nd period, but came up empty in a key situation that has happened all too often. The final segment was the player of the game, Wyatt Johnston finally scored a goal after 16 games without one and picked up an assist on Jamie Benn's goal 11 seconds into the game. Wyatt Johnston has gone 16 straight games without a goal, and just had four assists in the month of December. On today's episode of Locked On Stars, Joey answers the burning question how can the Stars get Wyatt Johnston to produce again? Johnston has not played bad by any means, some would say he has been unlucky with some of the chances he's had to score lately. Joey thinks the Stars need to think about breaking up his line involving Jamie Benn and Evgenii Dadanov. The trio has scored 8 goals at five on five this season, just 3 ahead of the fourth line which does not have the same amount of fire power, plus they rank as one of the worst lines in all of hockey in Goals per 60 minutes. Joey believes adding someone like Sam Steel to join Benn and Johnston could help them be more effective, since the whole line has not been as effective since December. We have more news on Jake Oettinger who is now skating, but Pete DeBoer said he is farther away then closer. Joey speculates the possible return for Otter and why they are going to be extra cautious in the next few weeks. The Dallas Stars blew out the Chicago Blackhawks by an 8-1 final on New Year's Eve. Mason Marchment had a hat trick in route to a four point night and completing back to back games for the Stars with hat tricks when Roope Hintz did it two nights prior. Tyler Seguin had 3 points and only three players left the game without a point for Dallas. On today's episode of Locked On Stars, Joey believes this is a glimpse of how great the Stars can be. Obviously, the Blackhawks are one of the bottom five teams in the league, but the dominating nature of the win makes him think this could be their potential. Included with that is the play of the defense, it's important that the Stars defensive core plays great in their own zone, but also produces offensively and December has show that. Miro Heiskanen had 15 points in the month, Thomas Harley had 11, Jani Hakanpaa and Esa Lindell are chipping in as well and with the personnel Dallas has currently, they must play this way to have ultimate success. The final segment is about 2024 resolutions for the Dallas Stars, the first two are obvious and certain ones that Joey has expressed before such as bringing in another right shot defensemen, bringing the goals against average down, but Joey really wants Jake Oettinger to be fully healthy. The Dallas Stars fall to the St. Louis Blues by the final score of 2-1 last night out of Christmas break. Jason Robertson scored the lone goal for Dallas off a pass from Roope Hintz. Scott Wedgewood was phenomenal especially on the penalty kill, but Joel Hofer for St. Louis made 39 saves to hand Dallas a lost. The show opens with Joey's main takeaways from the game which include the Stars were the better team for the majority of the contest, but once again fall into a two nothing hole. Eventually, it will catch up to you and it did last night even though they out-chanced the Blues 31-11 in the game. The game was open and not as physical as expected so both sides had good looks offensively and one goalie was just a bit better. The 2nd segment praises the incredible PK for the Stars that once again killed off an entire 2 minute 5 on 3 and double minor consecutively to keep them in the game heading into the 3rd period. Jani Hakanpaa and Esa Lindell have been outstanding as almost an exclusive duo on the penalty kill and went 4-for-4 yesterday. The final segment dissects a power play that has gone bone dry, they are now 0-for-16 and have not scored in five straight games. Their entries have been the main point of interest for Joey who speculates they've struggled to find open ice and generate off the rush as of late.
