An Alternative To Opiate Painkillers with Floyd Landis. Former pro cyclist Floyd Landis started a new career producing “high-quality cannabis products” under the brand name Floyd’s of Leadville. Since Colorado legalized recreational marijuana in 2014, the pot market has since grown to a billion-dollar industry—and Landis appears happy to be on board. Floyd’s of Leadville will specialize in pesticide-free cannabis oil “from high altitude growers using an industry-leading, pharmacy grade CO2 extraction process.” Early products revealed on Twitter show two applications of the oil: a topical cream that can be absorbed through your skin and pre-filled vapor cartridges. A huge component of Floyd’s of Leadville’s mission is to market the products as an alternative to opiate painkillers and other addictive prescription drugs. And according to the Floyd’s of Leadville Twitter account, Landis is even offering a limited discount to USA Cycling members: 15 percent off, if you show your license. According to a report this year from ArcView Market Research, the cannabis industry is expected to grow by 25 percent this year alone and eventually total $22 billion in sales by 2020. Floyd’s of Leadville will officially launch its line of vapes, edibles, and other cannabis products Thursday, June 30 at Club Vinyl in Denver. The event is limited to 300 guests and RSVPs are expected at FloydsofLeadville.com.
