Bavarian Podcast Works: Preview Show — Bayern Munich vs. VfB Stuttgart (Rückrunde)
Simply put, this game means everything for VfB Stuttgart and absolutely nothing for the Ibiza Bunch...err, Bayern Munich.I kid, I kid.I could not care any less about the Ibiza trip, but the Bavarians will have to play much better — and will need to show more life — than they did last week. This is what we have on tap for this episode:A look at where each squad is in the table.A look at the recent form for both squads. Some key players to watch for VfB Stuttgart. Why this match could go a long way in determining if VfB Stuttgart gets relegated. The after-effects of some youngsters being left out of the squad last week.A guess at who Julian Nagelsmann might start (Hint: This could be a very veteran-laden lineup to start the match).A prediction on the match.Be sure to stay tuned to Bavarian Podcast Works for all of your up to date coverage on Bayern Munich and Germany. Bavarian Podcast Works S4E30: Options to replace Lewandowski and why they all suck, Nagelsmann’s Bayern vs Flick’s 2nd season, technical difficulties, and more!
It’s been a while since we’ve been able to record one of these, but the Bavarian Podcast Works main show is back! In the time since we last recorded one main episode, Bayern Munich have been knocked out of the Champions League by Villarreal, won the league for the 10th straight time in a row, and all anyone can talk about is the fact that Robert Lewandowski might be leaving the club this summer. So, I guess that’s fun?In this episode, Tom and INNN discuss:The Robert Lewandowski saga — the key numbers, mainly salary and contract length. What is really going on behind the scenes?Options to replace Lewandowski (Haaland, Haller, Lukaku, etc.) and why they don’t make sense.Addressing the Cristiano Ronaldo rumors specifically (because why not?) and why Ronaldo’s situation is actually very relevant to the current Lewy debate. Why Lewandowski probably doesn’t want to leave Bayern just yet.Switching gears to the season retrospective — how does Nagelsmann’s first season stack up against Hansi Flick’s second season? It had to be a shorter podcast this week because we had a lot of connection issues and you might hear some weird audio glitches as well. Sorry about that.As always, thanks for your support and let us know what you think!Be sure to stay tuned to Bavarian Podcast Works for all of your up to date coverage on Bayern Munich and Germany. Bavarian Podcast Works: Postgame Show — Mainz 3-1 Bayern Munich (Ruckrunde)
Sometimes, that post-title hangover can hit a team hard. Bayern Munich were sleepwalking on the pitch against Mainz today and paid dearly for it, although the scoreline is nowhere near as bad as it could’ve been. Even allowing for the fact that team captain Manuel Neuer and vice captain Thomas Muller did not start in the XI, this was an unacceptably poor performance from Bayern, characterized by a strong lack of effort and leadership. Unfortunately, since the game comes after we’ve already won the title, it doesn’t make sense to overanalyze every single thing. Here are our talking points from the game:How Julian Nagelsmann didn’t go far enough with experimenting with the lineup. Why Alphonso Davies’ positioning in the hybrid back-three/four system compromises his defending.Marcel Sabitzer may have sealed his future with this game.Bayern Munich’s mentality problem under Nagelsmann — an inability to deal with adversity. As always, we love your feedback and appreciate all the support!Be sure to stay tuned to Bavarian Podcast Works for all of your up to date coverage on Bayern Munich and Germany. Bavarian Podcast Works: Preview Show — Mainz 05 vs. Bayern Munich (Rückrunde)
Bayern Munich has already clinched the Bundesliga title for the season, but there are still three games to go.The Bavarians will squad off against a pesky Mainz 05 squad and Julian Nagelsmann could deviate from his normal set of starters in an attempt to give the club a chance to look at some of the lesser used boys, along with a few youngsters.Nagelsmann’s player management will be the focal point for the match, but there is more to talk about as well, so this is what we have on tap:A look at where each team is in the table. Some squad news on Bayern Munich.A guess at what Julian Nagelsmann is going to do and who he is going to play.A prediction on the match.Be sure to stay tuned to Bavarian Podcast Works for all of your up to date coverage on Bayern Munich and Germany.
