133. My Fertility Recovery Story: Hypothalamic Amenorrhea Recovery

In this week's episode, I share about my personal experience recovering from hypothalamic amenorrhea (HA).

When I was 22 years old, my gynecologist callously shared:

'You'll probably have a hard time getting pregnant, but here's the pill for now."

This was following years of menstrual cycle irregularities, several bouts of amenorrhea (complete loss of my period), excruciatingly painful sex & general confusion about what was going on with my body.

At 22, pregnancy was the LAST thing on my mind. I had big dreams, a challenging relationship with my own mother and my body.

Puberty had been such a painful experience for me. I couldn't even imagine going through the body changes associated with pregnancy...

But for some reason her comment stung.

I didn't even want kids....did I?

There was a longing somewhere deep inside.

Somewhere that I had been ignoring for a long time.

Many years later, at 29 when my first niece was born this longing came up again
