086- Importance Of Engaging In Advocacy To Improve Access To Care

This week Matt discusses advocacy and the variance in scope of practice from state to state. Matt chats with Sherri Foran, RDH, BSDH, MPA, PHDH who is the president of the Illinois Dental Hygienists' Association. Matt and Sherri discuss the public health dental hygiene(PHDH) model in Illinois and the efforts to pass new legislation to increase the settings where PHDHs can practice. Advocacy is an important aspect of advancing access to care and dental hygienists play a critical role as oral health prevention specialists.
