Getting There: Part 1

Today we talk about the film this podcast has been waiting for. The film that divides Mary-Kate and Ashley fans around the globe. The film that made some some of us double down on our MKA obsession and some of us take a step back. Whether you loved it or hated it, chances are you never forgot it. Because it's not about the journey, it's all about GETTING THERE.

On June 11th, 2002 (we finally looked up the release date), Mary-Kate and Ashley released their 6th direct-to-video feature film, Getting There. This film follows Kylie (Mary-Kate) and Taylor (Ashley) who are sweet 16 and licensed to drive. They set out on a road trip with their friends to see the 2002 Winter Olympics in Salt Lake City, Utah, but of course, everything that can go wrong does go wrong.

Famously, this was one of Becca's favorite Mary-Kate and Ashley movies as a tween, but Lani admitted that she barely ever watched it. So this discussion is a juicy one, as we pick apart this movie beat by beat, examining Mary-Kate's extremely complicated and not-so-fun relationship, discussing Billy Aaron Brown's omnipresence in the MKA Universe, figuring out how they tried to pass Toast off as a character remotely resembling a person, and demanding justice for Lindy!

We simply have too much talk about for this movie, so we had to do it in two parts. Next week when we reveal who we think Ashley's love interest in this movie really is, what we *finally* think of their friend Jenn, and decide whether or not we actually like this movie!
