One afternoon in May 1828, a mysterious boy stumbled into a quiet square in the picturesque city of Nürnberg, in what was then the German Confederation.

Unable to utter more than a few words and seeming as though he had just arrived from another planet, when the apparent truth of the boy's provenance eventually came to light, it was even more extraordinary than anyone could possibly have imagined.
