What will the true contenders look to accomplish before the deadline?

What will the true contenders look to accomplish before the deadline?

Frank and Jason are back with a fresh edition of The DFO Rundown as they decided to sink their teeth into the potential shopping lists for the true contenders in both the Eastern and Western Conferences.

They started with a handful of teams right off the jump who could be in the mix for some help at the forward position before getting to the best team in the NHL: the Washington Capitals. The Caps have been one of the best stories in league this season, but will they go all-in at the deadline? The guys debated that.

From there, they touched on some potential fits for teams like the Toronto Maple Leafs and Dallas Stars, who’s number one needs are pretty clear cut according to Frank.

Tyler then popped in for a new edition of Buy or Sell where he asked the guys about the potential fire sale in Pittsburgh, which prompted Frank to make quite the wager with the guys. They also talked about who the Nashville Predators could sell off and the mindset out in Utah as GM Bill Armstrong approaches the deadline.

To wrap things up, they talked about a few of the big dogs in the West like the Edmonton Oilers, Minnesota Wild and the always active Vegas Golden Knights.

Ep. 35: The Habs dominance, the NHL Draft, and more with Craig Button!

A new episode of The DFO Rundown is here! With Jason Gregor out of the lineup for today's pod, Frank Seravalli brought in Craig Button to fill in! The duo kicked things off by talking about the Montreal Canadiens surprising dominance of the Winnipeg Jets and how Head Coach Dominic Ducharme has had an impact. From there, they went on to talk about the Vegas Golden Knights coming back to even things up with the Avalanche before getting into the other two series from a thrilling second round of the Stanley Cup Playoffs!   Button gave some great insight into how the remaining teams in the playoffs are being coached and who needs to make the most adjustments to take their team to the next level. Of course, the next round is going to feature two matchups between teams that haven't played each other yet this season. Craig ranked the four divisions and talked about who could be favourites in round three.   They transitioned from there and talked a little bit about the NHL Draft. Owen Power is coming off a fantastic performance at the World Hockey Championships. Was that enough for him to be locked in as the #1 overall pick? Craig shared his take and gave us his player comparables for the young defenseman. They also talked about what the Draft looks like after that. Hosted on Acast. They were also joined by former NHLer and current analyst Brian Boucher who talked about the magic of Nathan MacKinnon and other big stories from around the Stanley Cup Playoffs.   Is this more of a choke job by the Maple Leafs or is this just the result of the Habs finding another level? How many games will Ryan Reaves get? Can the Canes overcome their game one loss against Tampa? Frank and Jason answered all of those questions before bringing in Boucher for some more analysis. Ep. 30: Frank's a Free Agent & the Playoffs Are Fire!

Ep. 30: Frank's a Free Agent & the Playoffs Are Fire!

Episode 30 of The DFO Rundown is here! It was a busy week for our guy Frank Seravalli, who kicked off the podcast by giving us an update on his future and where he'd like to go now that his time at TSN has come to an end. From there, they went around the NHL and dug into each of the first-round series.   The Panthers may have saved their season on Thursday night but they also might have a bit of a goaltending controversy on their hands. Speaking of goaltending controversies, there might be one brewing in Vegas and it won't just impact their playoff run. It will also make their choice at the expansion draft an interesting one. They wrapped up the playoff talk by looking at which deadline acquisition has had the biggest impact on their new club.   They moved on to talk about some of the teams out of the playoffs and which organizations could make big changes, and which ones could give their current groups another chance. Vancouver and Calgary were the focus here.   They wrapped up the episode with a little 'Buy/Sell, which focused on the playoffs, a few individual players, Nazem Kadri, and a trio of Canadian teams! Ep. 29: Overtimes Galore & a Chat With Dave Bolland

Ep. 29: Overtimes Galore & a Chat With Dave Bolland

The playoffs are underway and they are not disappointing! Frank Seravalli and Jason Gregor got right into things by talking about the crazy number of overtime games to start things off and the red-hot rivalry between the Florida Panthers and Tampa Bay Lightning.    Off the ice, there is plenty of drama as well. Frank got into what's going on with Kuznetsov, Samsonov, and the Capitals. Is there a real chance that Kuznetsov will be traded? Frank had the answer. The big-name that will be in the rumour mill of course is Jack Eichel, but, the surgery he wants to have a hot-button issue. Could that make him untradeable? The guys debated it. They wrapped up the opening segment by talking about the Vancouver Canucks offseason and what needs to happen.   To further get into the Stanley Cup Playoffs spirit, the guys welcomed Dave Bolland into the Wood Jerseys studio! The two-time Stanley Cup Champion talked about winning it all with the Hawks, the crazy parties that come with it, and gave us his take on this year's postseason. Of course, we couldn't let him leave without running him through a quick round of 'Rapid Fire'. Hosted on Acast. See acast.com/privacy for more information.
