#19 Piloting During COVID-19

It's PILOT WEEK on Grounded with Flight Attendant Joe.

Commercial airline pilots, Marissa and Adam, called in to discuss the impact that COVID-19 is having on the airline industry.

Part one: Marissa and I discussed the challenges of being a single mother of three, an airline pilot, and how she prioritizes what's most important in her life. We also discussed how her airline management is handling the situation. misogyny in the flight deck, and why airline passengers were told to quarantine after flying on certain flights, but pilots and flight attendants were told to get right back on the airplane fly another flight.

Part two: Adam is one of my best friends and I had this awesome opportunity to pop his podcast cherry. Trust me, I'm sure he's still walking funny. Adam and I chatted about our expectations during the pandemic, how airline management is handling the situation, and how he manages his stress level during this unknown time. We also talked about how important it is to have a backup plan in life. Nothing is guaranteed and even when you think your life and job are going perfectly, something can come along and pull the rug out from under you. What's your backup plan? What would you do if your career suddenly ended? You better think about it seriously, but anything is possible.
