CBD, Dermatologic Conditions, and Nanotechnology

What is the potential of topical CBD for treating, and or managing, different dermatologic conditions? We got the answer to this question and more from Adam Friedman, MD, FAAD, professor and chair of the Department of Dermatology at the GW School of Medicine and Health Sciences. A leader and innovator in this field, he also serves as the founding director of the dermatology residency program, director of translational research in the Department of Dermatology, and director of the Supportive Oncodermatology Program at the GW Cancer Center. He is currently investigating novel nanotechnologies that allow for controlled and sustained delivery of a wide spectrum of physiologically and medicinally relevant molecules, with an emphasis on treating infectious diseases, accelerating wound healing, immune modulation, and correcting vascular dysfunction. More recently, he has emerged as leader in the field of medical cannabis in dermatology. He holds multiple patents derived from these investigations, and has published over 210 papers/chapters and 2 textbooks on both his research as well as a variety of clinical areas in dermatology with an emphasis on emerging medical therapies. ◘ Related content Adam Friedman, MD, Appointed to Serve as Chair of the Department of Dermatology https://bit.ly/3yeWwib AAD 2020: Expert Shares Promise of Cannabinoid-Based Therapy for Dermatologic Conditions https://bit.ly/3fbgQcK New Research Explores Nanotechnology as a Vehicle for Delivering Cannabinoids in Dermatology https://bit.ly/3ibAI14 New Products Bring Side Effect: Nanophobia https://nyti.ms/3yilYmQ Small but Mighty: Challenges and Opportunities of Nanodelivery https://bit.ly/3rLGcCX Use of cannabinoids in dermatology here to stay https://bit.ly/3favLDS ◘ Transcript (Coming) ◘ This podcast features the song “Follow Your Dreams” (freemusicarchive.org/music/Scott_Ho…ur_Dreams_1918) by Scott Holmes, available under a Creative Commons Attribution-Noncommercial (01https://creativecommons.org/licenses/by-nc/4.0/) license. ◘ Disclaimer: The content and information shared in GW Integrative Medicine is for educational purposes only and should not be taken as medical advice.
