About Hanna Bach

Hanna Bach comes from a background in environmental and sustainability science and has recently defended her PhD thesis in Human Geography. She also has previous working experience from the maritime shipping industry. In her research, Hanna explores different aspects of what is needed to replace fossil fuels with more sustainable fuels and technologies in the maritime shipping sector. For her PhD project, Hanna has investigated the influence of global and national policy incentives on development and implementation of more sustainable technologies, as well as how community-initiated bottom-up grassroots innovations form and develop in the maritime shipping sector. Her research interests also include how we can make sectors that are specifically hard to decarbonise, such as the shipping industry, more sustainable, as well as how well-established global structures influence sustainability processes in international sectors.
