Episode 016 | This Might Be the Most Depressing Comedy Podcast Yet

This week, Sam and Alex take a deep dive into the rollercoaster ride of filming a comedy special—because nothing says "we’re living the dream" like overanalyzing crowd reactions and debating the merits of opening with a bit only existing fans will understand. (Will it alienate new viewers? Probably. Will that stop Sam? Absolutely not.)

From dissecting the strange power structures of the Detroit comedy scene (where some folks seem to get anointed without earning it) to reminiscing about "poor food" staples like beanie weenies and Bar S hot dogs, this episode has everything: nostalgia, cynicism, and the realization that Alex somehow made it this far in life without knowing about canned beans and cut-up hot dogs.

Of course, no episode would be complete without a little political doom-spiraling. The duo takes shots at Elon Musk’s latest questionable decisions, Mark Zuckerberg’s never-ending identity crisis, and the general feeling that everything is spiraling downward at warp speed. But don’t worry—there’s still room for some childhood trauma, questionable fashion choices, and a truly tragic story about a broken arm and a beloved T-shirt.
