Games against Freiburg are rarely easy; but Bayern Munich found a way to beat Christian Streich’s tough and gritty Freiburg side, 2 - 1. Bavarian Podcast Works Postgame Show: Talking points from Bayern Munich’s 5-2 victory over Benfica in the Champions League
Bayern Munich picked up a 5-2 win over Benfica in the Champions League in match that easily could have been a four or five goal margin of victory in favor of the Bavarians. Benfica came out swinging early, but punched itself and let Bayern Munich right back into the match. The second half was entirely dominated by the Bavarians as well. Here is what we have on tap: Julian Nagelsmann’s line-up was wild. Granted, Lucas Hernandez and Niklas Süle were injury, but I did not foresee Tanguy Nianzou getting the call, three wingers (Serge Gnabry, Kingsley Coman, and Leroy Sane), Thomas Müller on the bench, and no Jamal Musiala. Bayern Munich’s strong first half that ended on a disappointing note with Benfica’s goal and Robert Lewandowski’s missed penalty. The strong start to the second half that paved the way to victory. Bayern Munich’s swarming offensive attack.Be sure to stay tuned to Bavarian Podcast Works for all of your up to date coverage on Bayern Munich and Germany. Bavarian Podcast Works S4E13: Bayern Munich’s bounce back weekend; The Bundesliga’s craziness; Favorite Halloween candy; and MORE!
Welcome to a spooky edition of the Bavarian Podcast Works Flagship Show, which was recorded on Halloween. Our staffers had a full schedule, so you were stuck with me to guide you through what happened this weekend with Bayern Munich and the Bundesliga overall. Here is what we had on tap for this episode: A look at what was really important for fans to see from Bayern Munich when they squared off against Union Berlin. The results in the Bundesliga this weekend and who at teams are surprising us. Just a few guesses at what some Bayern Munich players might dress up as for Halloween. I had to check myself before I wrecked myself and only name a few so I did not have anyone hunting me down. My list of Halloween candy favorites (Hint: There is a strong Hershey/Reese’s presence) and why I think Mallow Cups, Mounds, and Almond Joy are underrated. Bavarian Podcast Works: Preview Show — Bayern Munich vs. Benfica (Champions League)
Bayern Munich traveled to Portugal, the scene of their UEFA Champions League victory in 2020, to take on Benfica in the previous match-day; they beat the Portuguese side, 0 — 4. The goals came really late in that match with the inspiration being Leroy Sané.Since then, a lot has unfolded; Bayern were taken apart by Borussia Mönchengladbach in the DFB Pokal. The defeat, a record defeat for the Bavarians, 5-0, revealed weaknesses in Julian Nagelsmann’s side, including the inability to play around an incessant press. While that game was a one-off, the back-line did not look too solid against Union Berlin either. Where Bayern goes from here remains to be seen, although goal scoring does not seem to be a problem.Be sure to stay tuned to Bavarian Podcast Works for all of your up to date coverage on Bayern Munich and Germany.
