The Reds were also hamstrung (ahem) by the loss of centre-halves Willy Boly and Scott McKenna after just five minutes. Forest were comprehensively beaten in the end by a Manchester United team who took an early lead through Marcus Rashford, before goals at the end of each half by Weghorst and Fernandes sealed the deal. However, the Reds did have a really good spell in the first half, and it could have been so different if Sam Surridge's equaliser had stood when Forest were 1-0 down; as it was, VAR ruled that the striker's shoelace was offside. A late goal by sub Sam Surridge earned the Reds a share of the spoils away at Bournemouth. The hosts had taken a first half lead and although the Reds had a good number of efforts on goal, Ryan Yates' first half header was ruled out for an offside. Even when Surridge did equalise, VAR had to check for offside, but the former Bournemouth man's goal stood.
