Take It Personal (Ep 138: This One's for Barkley)

On Episode 138, we're paying respects to our late friend and longtime supporter of Take It Personal, Matt "Barkley" Temchatin. Many of you knew Barkley as @HipHopAutographs, as he was one of the most celebrated hip-hop collectors online. Barkley unexpectedly passed away a few months ago, so we wanted to honor him with our last episode of 2023.

Barkley, like myself, started out doing college radio but his love for hip-hop only grew as he got older. He went on to run a record store and work as a record promoter in Philly, later graduating to a family man. His true passion can be seen when you view his IG @HipHopAutographs or if you recall the time he amazed everyone with his appearance on D-Stroy's Show Off Your Gems.

Barkley was a huge advocate of new hip-hop, so on 138, we are playing some of our favorite records that have recently come out in honor of him. We've got new music from Black Milk, Jay Royale, Elcamino, Torae, Beneficence, RJ Payne, Mickey Diamond & Big Ghost Ltd, Vinnie Paz, Little Brother, AZ, Supastition, Smoke DZA, Him Lo, Stu Bangas, The Good People, Edo.
