021_4.3 Solving Quadratic Equations using the Quadratic Formula

The quadratic formula works with any quadratic equation, but it is the longest and has the most room for mistakes. The discriminant is b^2-4ac &can show you if the equation has 2 solutions, 1 solution, or no solutions depending on if the number is positive (2 solutions), 0 (1 solution), or negative (no solutions). The method of solving quadratic equations I prefer using is either factoring or completing the square because they are the two easiest to do and I already have experience with them. I also learned that in practice number 3 which was 4x^2-4x=-1, I would need to move -1 to the other side of the equation and get 4x^2-4x+1=0. Then I would use the quadratic formula which is X equals negative B plus or minus the square root of B squared minus 4AC all over 2A. After changing the variable I got -(-4)+/- the square root (-4)^2-4(4)(1) all over 2(4). -4 times a negative gave me 4+/- the square root of 16-16 all over 8. 16-16 gave me 0 and the square root of zero is 0. 4/8= 0.5 (=
