Welcome to Episode 2043, where Prof. Scienza takes questions from the wine community and answers them in his inimitable way! These shows are generally in the Italian language. Today’s questions come from Siyang Li! Today’s questions:  If I suddenly had the super power of time travel to taste wines made by ancient Romans, what year would you suggest to be landed? And how would the wine taste like?  Se all'improvviso avessi il superpotere di viaggiare nel tempo per assaggiare i vini prodotti dagli antichi romani, in quale anno suggerireste di atterrare? E che sapore avrebbe il vino?  If you want to learn more about the Professor: The one who checks all the facts and regulates when we mistakenly type “Verdicchio” in place of “Vermentino.” Attilio Scienza is a full professor at the University of Milan in the Department of Agricultural and Food Sciences where he teaches courses on genetic improvements to the vine; he also teaches Viticulture in the Master’s program of the University of Turin in Asti. Ep. 2042 When being collective leads to uniqueness | wine2wine Business Forum 2023

Welcome to Episode 2042, where we present the session recordings from the wine2wine Business Forum 2023. In today's episode, we delve into- When being collective leads to uniqueness: Branding Territory and Terroir Branding with Nathalie Spielmann, Robert Camuto Italian Wine Podcast is proud to be a media partner of wine2wine Business Forum and we are pleased to present this series of market focus sessions, recorded during the Forum held in Verona in November 2023. wine2wine Business Forum is an international wine business event, held annually in Verona, Italy since 2014. The event is a key annual  reference point for wine producers and wine professionals from around the world, providing an opportunity to network, develop and expand their wine business worldwide. About the session: Terroir branding - distinct from country-of-origin effects and place branding - explains how and why some regions are better known than others. Indeed, when local firms can develop global brands while being engaged in responsible actions to protect their valuable resources, the value of their territorial brand soars. Champagne is an excellent example.   This session will discuss how to identify key facets that make terroir brands unique, how they can work collectively using cooperative postures, the role of moral engagement, and the hazards that prevent value creation. In the ever-globalized marketplace, distinctiveness is a key performance indicator and efficient terroir branding is a critical strategic approach helping regions and wine brands gain notoriety and rise above the competitive clutter. Welcome to episode 2039 of the Italian Wine Podcast, Wine, Food & Travel With Marc Millon. Today, he is interviewing Salvatore Avallone of Villa Matilde More about today’s winery: In the 1960s, Francesco Paolo Avallone, a lawyer with a personal passion for ancient wines, read about 'Falernum' wine by ancient Roman politician Plinius and the ancient Roman poets Vergilius and Marziale. Believing in the potential of this land, he started viticulture to revive the high quality wines of 2000 years ago and founded Villa Matilde, then "Villa Matilde Avallone".
