In conversation with Jayne Joyce, one of the writers of The Art of Breastfeeding, 9th edition (October 2024)

In this episode by La Leche League LLLGB, volunteer breastfeeding counsellors Sarah Fletcher and Maria Yasnova welcome Jayne Joyce, who is a fellow LLLGB leader and one of four writers of The Art of Breastfeeding, 9th edition, which is available to order from 15 October 2024.

The other writers of this book are: Bibiana Moreno-Carranza, Teresa Pitman and Anna Swisher.

Jayne is a mother of three teen and young adult children, and has worked with babies, young children and families for 30 years as a social worker and then International Board Certified Lactation Consultant (IBCLC).

The discussion is centred around what to expect from the latest edition of this world-renown source of information on breastfeeding.

We share our own memories of coming across the Womanly Art of Breastfeeding book early on our parenting journeys and the role it has played in our lives. We hear how the book has evolved with the changing world we live in and what is new and what stayed the same.

A holistic model of support offered by LLL is also discussed and the listeners are encouraged to reach out to LLLGB if breastfeeding support and information is needed.

LLLGB is a charity that offers mother to mother and parent to parent support for breastfeeding and chestfeeding.

The charity was founded by seven mothers in 1956 and since then has accumulated a wealth of knowledge that is now supported by the latest scientific evidence and research.
