Murray’s State (guest: Jason Wood)

Murray’s State (guest: Jason Wood)

The show returns from a two-week hiatus, as host Pat Fitzmaurice (@Fitz_FF) is joined by Jason Wood of FootballGuys.com (@fbgwood). An Eagles season ticketholder, Jason offers his take on the Eagles’ 1-2 start and what he expects from Miles Sanders and Carson Wentz in the weeks to come. Jason also pays some respect to the division-rival Cowboys, and assesses the outlook for Dak Prescott in the Kellen Moore-designed Dallas offense. Jason and Pat discuss why fantasy analysts weren’t high enough on Patrick Mahomes, what sort of value Demarcus Robinson and Mecole Hardman have going forward, and what to make of Kyler Murray after three games. Jason talks about his OG origins with FootballGuys, how his career as a portfolio manager influences his approach to fantasy football, and some of the things he’s seemingly gotten right and wrong so far in 2019. Jason and Pat then muse about the increasingly grim outlook for Baker Mayfield and the Browns’ offense, the plight of Sony Michel, and various members of the rookie class. Full Arsenal (guest: Etan Mozia)

Full Arsenal (guest: Etan Mozia)

With the kickoff of the 2019 NFL season nearly upon us, host Pat Fitzmaurice (@Fitz_FF) is joined by Etan Mozia (@EtanMozia), co-host of the Dyno Diagnostic podcast and a contributor to numberFire. Etan and Pat discuss fallout from some notable recent transactions, including LeSean McCoy going from the Bills to the Chiefs, and the Texans adding Carlos Hyde and Kenny Stills. A close follower of the English Premier League, Etan discusses the trials of being an Arsenal supporter, and Pat offers an NFL team as a comparison (not a flattering one). Etan also roots for the Broncos, and he and Pat debate the outlook for a Lindsay-Freeman backfield and for rookie TE Noah Fant. Etan discusses some of the guys he’s planted flags on this draft season and guys he’s pointedly avoided. Then, Etan and Pat wrap up with a little either/or game, with Etan choosing either of two players for a Week 1 start. A Pitch for Mitch (guest: Mike Tagliere)

A Pitch for Mitch (guest: Mike Tagliere)

A lot of you have drafts this week, so host Pat Fitzmaurice (@Fitz_FF) and guest Mike Tagliere of FantasyPros.com (@MikeTagliereNFL) go position by position in this episode and discuss a lot of key players – guys they like, guys they don’t like, guys they agree on, guys they disagree on. In an ironic twist, Bears fan Tags puts a positive spin on Aaron Rodgers while Packers fan Fitz expresses concerns. Then Tags makes an impassioned sales pitch for Mitch Trubisky and also makes a strong case for the upside of Jameis Winston. Tags explains why Alvin Kamara is his RB1, why he’s higher on Todd Gurley than most, and why Chris Carson is a buy Tags talks about his new dog, which has a familiar name, and the chaos that comes with raising a puppy and a 2-year-old son simultaneously. Then it’s WR talk, with Tags and Fitz assessing the Josh Gordon situation, debating where Stefon Diggs and Adam Thielan should be ranked, and discussing the receiver they both think you need to draft in the late rounds. Finally Tags and Fitz talk about the appealing ceilings of TEs David Njoku and Dallas Goedert. The Wiz from the Viz (guest: Shawn Siegele)

The Wiz from the Viz (guest: Shawn Siegele)

With draft season upon us, host Pat Fitzmaurice (@Fitz_FF) is joined by Shawn Siegele (@FF_Contrarian), who in his Fitz on Fantasy appearance last August recommended Patrick Mahomes and Tyler Boyd as strong buys. Shaun is the architect of the revolutionary and controversial Zero-RB strategy, and he talks about how viable Zero-RB is as a strategy in 2019, then discusses some of the running backs who look like potential land mines this season. (Trigger warning: You probably like some of the RBs on this list.) Shawn explains why he’s been on a two-year Twitter hiatus, then talks about what it’s like to be a Chiefs fan at the dawn of the Patrick Mahomes era. Pat and Shawn also hit on some Chiefs-relate fantasy topics, including where Mahomes and Travis Kelce should be drafted, whether Damien Williams is a value, and what we should expect from Sammy Watkins. Shaun also offers some interesting takes on the fantasy outlooks for a number of other players, including Will Fuller, Kalen Ballage, Marquez Valdes-Scantling, Andy Isabella and Gerald Everett. Get Down With the Browns (guest: Michael Beller)

Get Down With the Browns (guest: Michael Beller)

This week, host Pat Fitzmaurice (@Fitz_FF) is joined by Michael Beller of The Athletic (@MBeller), a football pool aficionado who talks about some of the crazier pools he’s in – a few of which he’s dragged Fitz into. Beller also recaps his recent FLEX League draft, explaining why Odell Beckham Jr. is his WR1, why he was willing to roll the dice on Todd Gurley and why he considers Alshon Jeffery such a nice draft value. Beller also expresses his boundless enthusiasm for Baker Mayfield, whom he ranks QB1. (Are you buckled in, Browns fans?) Briefly steering away from the fantasy realm, Beller and Fitz briefly discuss the Rolling Stones’ concert in Chicago earlier this summer, the Cubs-Brewers rivalry and the 2019 outlook for University of Wisconsin football. Beller and Fitz talk about their shared disdain for the full-point PPR and whether half-point PPR is a palatable alternative. And finally, Beller weighs in on Antonio Brown, Aaron Jones, David Montgomery, Joe Mixon and Josh Jacobs. Let’s Get Juiced (guest: Matt Harmon)

Let’s Get Juiced (guest: Matt Harmon)

As the man behind the Reception Perception series, Matt Harmon of Yahoo (@MattHarmon) is often asked to talk about wide receivers on podcasts, but host Pat Fitzmaurice starts this week’s episode by taking Matt’s temperature at the other positions. Matt reveals which RBs he’s been buying frequently and which ones he’s been avoiding, and explains why he ranks Alvin Kamara RB1. Matt and Pat also discuss the QB pool, and Matt talks about which tier of tight ends he’s looking to buy from. Veering away from football, Matt discusses his dramatic weight loss and how he’s made it stick. He talks about having the chance to interview players for Yahoo and lists a couple of his favorite interviews to date. A Virginia native, Matt also talks about his immersion into the SoCal lifestyle. And you didn’t think we’d let Matt get away without asking him about wide receivers, did you? Before he goes, he drops some wisdom on Curtis Samuel, Calvin Ridley, Allen Robinson, Tyler Lockett and Davante Adams. Mansion Moving Tips (guest: Matt Kelley)

Mansion Moving Tips (guest: Matt Kelley)

Joining host Pat Fitzmaurice (@Fitz_FF) this week is high-energy fantasy football dynamo Matt Kelley (@Fantasy_Mansion), proprietor of PlayerProfiler.com and host of the Rotounderworld and Sonic Truth podcasts. Matt and Pat discuss some of the players generating news early in the training camp period, including Kerryon Johnson, A.J. Green and Miles Green. Matt expresses his enthusiasm for Derrick Henry at length before Pat offers a brief rebuttal (mainly to allow Matt to catch his breath and take a drink of water). As he prepares to vacate one fantasy mansion for another, Matt offers some advice on moving, giving us some Marie Kondo wisdom on getting rid of old crap. He also reveals that he’s not the most outgoing member of his family. Finally, Matt names the two players you should draft this year to win your fantasy league. Winehouse, Women and Song (guest: Scott Pianowski)

Winehouse, Women and Song (guest: Scott Pianowski)

After doing 53 episodes with 53 different guests, host Pat Fitzmaurice (@Fitz_FF) brings in his first repeat guest, Scott Pianowski of Yahoo (scott_pianowski) Scott and Pat chat about the fantasy value of Tyreek Hill now that no suspension is imminent, Brandin Cooks vs. Robert Woods, and how to sort out the top wide receivers. Scott and Pat also discuss risk philosophy in fantasy football and why some people might be able to justify more aggressive risk-taking with injury cases. Scott talks about simultaneously juggling fantasy football and fantasy baseball at this time of year, then lists a few of his “Ibanez All-Stars” – players who provide boring but dependable value and make good choices in fantasy drafts. There’s a digression into college basketball. And finally, Pat shamelessly steals a concept from Scott’s baseball podcast and challenges Scott to conduct a draft of female vocalists. (There’s heartbreak involved when someone is sniped on a favorite singer – find out who the coveted chanteuse is.)
