Tobacco use is a major cause of death and disease in the US and impacts literally every organ system in the body. Given the dire health consequences of tobacco use, it is critical that all health care providers (physicians, nurses, psychologists, psychiatrists, social workers, dentists, pharmacists, and more) are comfortable addressing their patients’ tobacco use.
