Mirabai (Meera) - Selected Poems for Meditation - Hindu Mystic - Poet Bhakti Movement

Mirabai (Meera) - Selected Poems for Meditation - Hindu Mystic - Poet Bhakti Movement

Mirabai (1502–1556) was a 16th-century Hindu mystic poet and devotee of Krishna. She is a celebrated Bhakti saint, particularly in the North Indian Hindu tradition. Mirabai was known for the incomparable beauty of the poems and bhajans she composed and sang in devotion to her beloved god, Krishna. Born in Rajasthan, she was married against her will to a prince of Chittor, near the fabled city of Udaipur. Her life was marred by persecution as she struggled to manifest her ardent desire to compose, sing and pursue spiritual studies. Though she was renowned for her talent, her family felt she was bringing dishonour by not behaving the way a courtly lady should — and they tried to poison and drown her. Paramahansa Yogananda - Selected Teachings for Meditation - Kriya Yoga

Paramahansa Yogananda - Selected Teachings for Meditation - Kriya Yoga

Paramahansa Yogananda (January 5, 1893 – March 7, 1952) was an Indian monk, yogi and guru who introduced millions to the teachings of meditation and Kriya Yoga through his organization Self-Realization Fellowship (SRF) / Yogoda Satsanga Society (YSS) of India, and who lived his last 32 years in America. A chief disciple of the Bengali yoga guru Swami Sri Yukteswar Giri, he was sent by his lineage to spread the teachings of yoga to the West, to prove the unity between Eastern and Western religions and to preach a balance between Western material growth and Indian spirituality. His long-standing influence in the American yoga movement, and especially the yoga culture of Los Angeles, led him to be considered by yoga experts as the "Father of Yoga in the West." Yogananda was the first major Indian teacher to settle in America. Music: Time for Peace - "Evening Sea" from the album Yoga in Daily Life. With thanks to Swami Madhuram Puri for permission to use his beautiful music. More of his music can be found here: https://timeforpeace.bandcamp.com/ 🙏 May whatever goodness arises from these readings/offerings be for the benefit of all sentient beings.
