The Sufi's Sufi - Abol-Hasan of Kharaqan - Selected Verses for Meditation - Sufi Mystics
Sheik Abol-Hasan of Kharaqan is one of the master Sufis of Iran - considered a Sufi's Sufi. He was born in 963 from Persian parents in Khorasan and died on the day of Ashura in 1033. He is not as well known or as widely as some of the great Muslim saints from Khorasan-Attar, Rumi, or Bahaoddin Naqhshband. However, this near anonymity was deliberate, according to the Sheikh's wish when he lived. Despite being a hidden saint, his spiritual affinity and grace are still very much acknowledged among the living Sufi circles across Iran and in the region. Even today, a steady stream of dervish pilgrims visits his tomb in Iran. His enduring presence is still potent among those whose aim in life is to attain higher knowledge and refinement of the heart. Selected Poems from the "The Soul and a Loaf of Bread" - Renditions by Vraje Abramian. Music: Time for Peace - "Sufi Prayer" This beautiful music can be purchased and downloaded here: https://www.timeforpeace.bandcamp.comWith deepest thanks to Swami Madhuram Puri for his kind offering of this exquisite music for this channel. 🙏 May whatever goodness arises from these readings/offerings be for the benefit of all sentient beings. ** Disclaimer: As a Buddhist nun, my intention with these podcasts is to offer these creative adaptations of spiritual teachings for the purpose of deepening spiritual understanding, contemplation, meditation, healing, devotion and relaxation for listeners. Milarepa - Selected Pointers and Teachings for Meditation - Tibetan Buddhism
This is a short selection of pith pointers taken from Milarepa's 100,000 songs. Translated by Garma C. Chang. Milarepa is one of the most important yogis and spiritual poets in the Tibetan Buddhist tradition, but very little of his life is known with any historical certainty. Even the dates of his birth and death have been notoriously difficult to calculate. In any case, it is clear that he lived during the eleventh and early-twelfth centuries, at the advent of the latter dissemination of Buddhism in Tibet. At his mother's request, Milarepa left home and studied sorcery to take revenge on their cruel relatives, killing many people. Later he felt sorrow about his deeds, and became student of Marpa the Translator. Eventually, Marpa accepted him, explaining that the trials were a means to purify Milarepa's negative karma. Music: Time for Peace - Raag Ahir Bhairav - from the album "Bridge" With thanks to Swami Madhuram Puri for permission to use his beautiful music. Jean Klein - A Guided Meditation on "Welcoming" - Advaita - Vedanta
Jean Klein (October 19, 1912 – February 22, 1998) was a French author, spiritual teacher and philosopher of Advaita Vedanta (Nondualism). He was born in Berlin and spent his childhood in Brno and Prague. Having left Germany in 1933 for France, he secretly worked with the French Resistance in the Second World War. Klein was a musicologist and doctor, traveled to India where he was influenced by Sri Atmananda Krishna Menon, studied Kashmir Shaivism and was sent to the West to teach Advaita Vedanta. He is regarded as one most eloquent communicators of non-duality in the second half of the 20th century. This teaching is taken from the Spirit Awake website and can be found here: https://www.spiritawake.net/jean-klein/ 🙏 May whatever goodness arises from these readings/offerings be for the benefit of all sentient beings. "The Sayings of Old Man Tcheng" - Zen Buddhism - Non-duality
Remarkable teachings intended for meditation and for cutting through delusions! The Words of Old Tcheng first appeared in the French journal, Etre, in 1974. Where this text first originated and at what time are unknown. It was given by a Buddhist monk in the form of a written document to a Frenchman who was visiting Indochina. Indications of style suggest that it may belong to the school of Zen founded by Hui Neng, the 6th Zen patriarch. French paraphrase of the original Buddhist text by J. Garillot (1974), translated by Else van den Muyzenberg. 🙏 May whatever goodness arises from these readings/offerings be for the benefit of all sentient beings. 🎧 As a Buddhist nun, my intention with these podcasts is to offer these creative adaptations of spiritual teachings for the purpose of deepening spiritual understanding, contemplation, meditation, healing, devotion and relaxation for listeners.
