The Northern Bank Robbery
Some listeners told me that they had trouble with some of the volume levels in this episode, so I have uploaded a different audio file which - hopefully - won't have the same issues. Sorry for the inconvenience! On the evening of December 20th, 2004, two Northern Bank executives carried out the largest heist in British history.Just before 6:00 PM, Assistant Branch Manager Kevin McMullan told all but one of the staff members to go home early. Once they’d left, Kevin McMullan and the other staff member, Chris Ward, went down to the vault and began to place £50 notes into a large sports bag. They carried it up past the unsuspecting security guards and out onto the busy street. A short distance from the bank, a man in a baseball cap was waiting for them. The man took the bag before explaining that they had to return to the bank where they would receive further instructions... The Investor Murders (Part Two: Trials & Tribulations)
On September 10th, 1984 - two years after Alaska's largest unsolved murder - authorities announced that they had a suspect in custody.John Kenneth Peel was a 24-year-old living in Bellingham, Washington - who seemed to be the perfect match for the killer. In addition to matching the suspect profile, Peel had a complicated prior relationship with the victims, and had both the means and motive to commit the crime. However, the case presented by state officials over the next several years would reveal large gaps in the narrative they had spent years (and millions of dollars) weaving, leaving behind several questions that remain unanswered to this day... The Investor Murders (Part One: A Tragedy In Craig, AK)
On the afternoon of September 7th, 1982, it was discovered that a ship - anchored in a lonely harbor about one mile outside of Craig, Alaska - had caught fire. Hours later, after the flames had been extinguished, emergency personnel would discover the bodies of at least four people, which had been burned beyond recognition. It was initially theorized that as many as nine people could have been on board at the time of the fire (whose origins remained clouded in doubt) but it would take months to determine the true cost of this tragedy. As arson investigators began to look over the crime scene, it became apparent that this was no accident; the fire had been intentionally started by someone looking to cover up the largest mass murder in Alaskan history...Part 1/2Episode hosted, produced, and research/writing by Micheal WhelanOriginal music created by Micheal Whelan through Amper MusicTheme music created and composed by Ailsa TravesProducers: Roberta Janson, Ben Krokum, Gabriella Bromley, Peggy Belarde, Quil Carter, Laura Hannan, Damion Moore, Brittany Norris, Amy Hampton, Steven Wilson, Scott Meesey, Marie Vanglund, Scott Patzold, Astrid Kneier, Aimee McGregor, Sydney Scotton, Sara Moscaritolo, Sue Kirk, Travis Scsepko, Thomas Ahearn, Seth Morgan, Marion Welsh, Patrick Laakso, Alyssa Lawton, Jo Wong, Meadow Landry, Rebecca Miller, Tatum Bautista, Teunia Elzinga, Jacinda B., Ryan Green, Stephanie Joyner, and Dawn KellarLearn more about this podcast at http://unresolved.meIf you would like to support this podcast and others, consider heading to https://www.patreon.com/unresolvedpod to become a Patron or ProducerThis episode is sponsored by BetterHelp, who offer online counseling services. The Colonial Parkway Murders
The Colonial Parkway is a historic and scenic road that links together the three points of Virginia's Historic Triangle: Jamestown, Williamsburg, and Yorktown.Located roughly halfway between Richmond and Virginia Beach, the Colonial Parkway spans approximately 22 miles in southeastern Virginia and is an incredibly beautiful drive during daytime hours. At night, however, it can become haunting - surrounded by darkened patches of woods - and without any lights to illuminate the road. This duality is perfectly expressed in the history of the Parkway itself, which is an incredibly scenic and vibrant piece of American history, but also happens to be ground zero for one of the nation's most brutal crime sprees... which remains clouded in doubt and tragedy more than three decades later. True Crime Movie Club - D.C. Sniper
As you probably guessed from the episode title, this is not a new episode of Unresolved. I'm taking this weekend off to finish up the Unresolved season 5 finale, but didn't want to leave you all hanging. So, this week, I am uploading an episode of another podcast I appear on: the D.C. Sniper episode of the wonderfully silly podcast "True Crime Movie Club." This is a podcast that I first appeared as a guest on a few months back, but have become a frequent co-host on.This podcast is very different from Unresolved, and features a decent amount of adult language and juvenile humor from myself and my co-hosts. If you like what you hear, listen to this episode and then subscribe to the podcast True Crime Movie Club to hear more. If not, then just stay tuned for the season finale of Unresolved coming out next week.To listen to additional episodes of True Crime Movie Club, please subscribe on your podcast app of choice or follow the link to the show's page on Spreaker: https://www.spreaker.com/show/true-crime-movie-clubTo follow along on social media, just search for 'True Crime Movie Club' or 'TCMCPodcast' on Instagram or Twitter, or by heading to the following link: https://twitter.com/tcmcpodcast?lang=enBecome a supporter of this podcast: https://www.spreaker.com/podcast/unresolved--3266604/support.

"Adam" (Torso In The Thames)
On 21st September 2001, a man discovered the dismembered remains of a young boy floating in the River Thames. Investigators would begin the lengthy process of identifying the victim, who was missing his head and limbs, and was found wearing only a pair of bright orange shorts. Through cutting edge forensic testing, they would discover how long he had been in the UK and where he likely came from, but very little when it came to specifics. However, over the next several years, police would uncover the unidentified boy's links to nefarious characters all over Europe, who were linked to a large-scale human trafficking ring based out of West Africa... The OKC Butcher
In April of 1976, three men would wander into an abandoned building, which they soon discovered to be a house of horrors.Inside of the home were the dismembered remains of a young woman, whose identity would elude investigators for the better part of two decades. This killer, who seemed to have shown no shame in committing this vile act of butchery, was eventually given a nickname fitting their savagery years later after police tied them to at least two other acts of obscene violence. Because of the victims that they targeted, however, their crimes haven't received much attention in the decades since, and many details of their crime spree remain closely guarded by the killer, whose identity remains unknown today...
