On the evening of August 7th, 2020, at around 7:42 PM, the Santa Rosa County Patrol Deputies received a distressing call for a wellness check. En route to the location, dispatch relayed a troubling message – Vickie Edge's family members were already at the scene, anxiously searching for her. Two days had passed without any word from Vickie, who was in town visiting her boyfriend, Jerry Odum, at his residence.

As the deputies arrived at the scene, they encountered Vickie's sister-in-law, who revealed that Vickie had been expected to spend time with her boyfriend but had mysteriously ceased all communication for those two days, a stark deviation from her usual behavior. In the driveway, they noticed a conspicuous red Pontiac sedan missing a license plate.

Approaching Jerry's residence, they knocked on the front door, but there was no response. Moments later, the garage door slowly creaked open, revealing Jerry's presence. The deputies wasted no time in questioning him about Vickie's whereabouts. Jerry's response sent a chilling shiver down their spines: "She is inside, but I have to tell you something first. She's been dead for two days.
