Do you still not understand? What do the scripture say? Jesus asked week 3 July 18, 2021

Do you enjoy asking questions? Jesus does. There are more than 300 questions that Jesus asked recorded in the books of Matthew, Mark, Luke and John. But we know that there had to have been even more since not everything that Jesus said and did was recorded. Our challenge is to imagine that Jesus is looking each of us in the eye and asking us the question. Now you are correct when you think that, “pastor, Jesus was not talking to me. That question was for the religious leaders, or the person being healed or the disciples, not me.” But you are only partially correct. The Holy Spirit inspired the authors to record these very specific questions and events from the life of Jesus for us. It is not inappropriate at all for us to look at these questions and imagine that Jesus is inquiring about our answers. I believe this is an incredible way to look at His words. There are so many situations in life that we might go through that almost make it seem as if a scene from God’s Word is a foreshadowing of a scene from our lives. And God uses that moment in scripture that seems to speak directly to us! If you have experienced that then you know exactly what I am talking about. If you have not, then I want to challenge you to dig deeper, to ask more questions, and to seek a spiritual mentor that might be able to help relate the truths found in the Word of God to the events in your life.
