Summary

This week we cover major developments across the Apple ecosystem including the ongoing story of the Apple Vision Pro launch and the role retail training may have played in its early adoption curve. A new book by Norm Schreiber argues that retail staffing cuts and compressed training contributed to underwhelming launch demos, but the panel debates whether training or the $3,499 price tag was the real barrier.

We also dive into gaming and media on Vision Pro, including the arrival of Steam Link for visionOS — bringing PC gaming streaming to the headset. It's currently limited to 2D streaming, but it hints at future VR potential. We share tips from Lifehacker on maximizing Vision Pro use, including accessibility tweaks, storage management, and remote streaming.

Next we talk OS updates across the board including recent security fixes in iOS 26, Wi-Fi fixes for newer Macs in macOS Tahoe, and a surprise set of App Store updates seemingly pushed by Apple Inc. itself.

We discuss the wild popularity of the MacBook Neo, which continues to face supply constraints due to chip yields and demand. Repair parts are now available via Apple's Self Service Repair program, and one YouTuber even managed a DIY storage upgrade (not recommended!).

Dave reviews the new Insta360 Snap accessory, which attaches a small touch display and light to your phone for better selfies and video capture.

In broader tech, we talk about Mint Mobile launching a $45/month bundle for unlimited wireless + home internet. And we explore Anthropic's new security initiative, Project Glasswing, which aims to use AI to find vulnerabilities in major platforms before bad actors do.

Finally, we highlight the new transcript feature in Overcast and preview the upcoming Macstock Conference & Expo — including the keynote and participation by David Pogue.
