31. From Practice to Professional Manual: Brick-Based Counseling | Derek Tulluck

I am very excited to welcome Derek Tulluck on the show. He is an Elementary School Counselor, Professor, Author of Brick-Based Counseling and maintains the school counselor resource Brick Counselor (www.brickcounselor.com). Any therapist looking for therapeutic interventions involving blocks, bricks and those fancy brand named tiny colored bricks no one likes to step on with their bare feet....his resources on the topic are for you.

Derek is a school counselor in the Seattle area, Enumclaw School District, and adjunct professor at City University of Seattle in the Professional School Counseling graduate degree program. He is a National Board Certified Teacher and completed his M.Ed. in Guidance and Counseling from City University of Seattle, and a BA in Linguistics from Western Washington University. Derek is passionate about incorporating play-based learning strategies and loves using brick materials in his work as a school counselor. Outside of school counseling, Derek is a black belt in Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu, enjoys traveling, and learning Japanese. Derek lives in Enumclaw, WA with his wife Aya and their 2 children, Walter and Eliana.
