47. Creating a Work-Life Balance as an Entrepreneurial Mom | Amber Trueblood

AMBER TRUEBLOOD is a licensed marriage and family therapist, speaker, writer, retreat host and mother to four sons. She loves learning everything she can about human development, psychology, neuroscience, self-care, meditation, communication, bio-hacking and family dynamics.
She is the author of the book, Stretch Marks. It is part memoir, part parenting book and part self-help. She also is the host of the podcast Stretch Marks where she interviews people intent on sharing their wisdom in areas ranging from money to meditation to pelvic floor dysfunction and probiotics.

Amber has been featured in Parade, the Oprah Magazine, L.A. Parent, Bustle, Fatherly and Good Housekeeping.

  • Amber's go-to brain-hacks for shifting mood.
  • The role of self-kindness in her transition from therapist to entrepreneur.
  • Importance of clarity on what is most important to you (not just your career) to create work-life boundaries.
  • Decoding overwhelm as a key to prioritizing time.
  • Intentionally adding 1 thing that is lights-you-up to your week and creating structures in place to ensure you do it.
  • Communicating needs with family and asking them to help you.
  • Identifying what things and people drain your mental or emotional energy so you can set intentional boundaries.
  • And her story of how she wrote a book on the road while her children were performing in the traveling musical.
