Episode 155: Become a More Dynamic Communicator

Your energy is a resource you should measure. As a business owner, it's so important to be aware of how the actions, activities, and people in your life influence you. Do they drain you, or do they recharge you? It's easy to get caught up in the day-to-day operations and forget to invest in your own growth.

I'm recording this episode on the road while on a solo retreat. Booking a quarterly solo retreat can provide you with the perfect opportunity to recharge and reflect. It's a powerful move that allows you to step out of the grind and be in a nourishing space where you can focus on you. It's a catalytic investment into your energetic wellbeing, which helps you grow into the person you need to be to lead your team and get to the next level.

One way that taking time for yourself can help you is with public speaking. You're closer than you think to becoming the powerhouse speaker you dream of being. Taking your own space for growth can help you build a dynamic speech that inspires your audience to take action. Finding a great communicator and breaking down their style can also help with this too.

Audiences respond to simple messages that convey the bigger picture. It's better to focus on the outcome of your main point rather than the process. Definitely know your facts and use data to strengthen your speech and create context. General ideas provoke thought, but specific analytics command attention.

Perhaps most importantly, utilize the power of stories. Evoke a visual experience. Captivate others during your first impression using your body language and eye contact to work the room. The way you carry yourself can do a lot in making the audience feel seen, heard, and appreciated.
