Navigating Youth and Pornography Exposure: Expert Insights

"Get comfortable with the uncomfortable." -Devon Mills (And Johann Hari)

In this episode Carly and Dr. Skinner welcome expert Dr. Devon Mills, founder of Thrive Counseling in Atlanta. Together Dr. Skinner and Dr. Mills, both with decades of research and empirical evidence to back it, powerfully examine the harm pornography poses with our young people.

We go over the average age of first exposure, the developmental dangers, and the detrimental effects of early exposure.

We cover how the challenges of pornography have evolved with technology advancing at such an extreme pace, and the necessity for proactive and supportive parental involvement.

Dr. Devon Mills and Dr. Skinner invite parents to have the crucial, albeit admittedly uncomfortable, conversations with their children about pornography and sexuality.

We discuss what the most helpful and also the least helpful responses are when learning of a child's pornography exposure.

We also touch on the importance of not vilifying sex, the role of consistent and frequent dialogue, and understanding our own beliefs about pornography to effectively communicate them with our children.

This episode you really don't want to miss!
