Episode 32 - Liquid Gold: A Conversation with Memorial Jewelry Artist Trish O'Leary

I have been LOVING doing this podcast. Thank you guys for continuing to listen along the way. I’m glad it’s been doing so well, resonating with so many of you, and transforming the way it has. Instead of just constantly talking about my musings, I’ve been able to learn so much by bringing new guests on every week. I’m talking to people I never would have spoken to before, making new friends, and frankly getting out of my comfort zone. For most of these people, my request to have them on the pod and out actual conversation is the first time we talk and I’ve had to really refine my ability to create a cozy, friendly, and genuine relationship quickly. It’s been fun. And these relationships have been beautiful.

With that said, today I have Trish O’Leary, founder and artist behind the Hold Your Heart Keepsakes business and line of breastmilk, cremation, and general memorial pieces. I’ve wanted a piece of breastmilk jewelry since I found out it was a THING and was so happy to find a small business, with an artist that I could speak to directly, who has such a tangible passion for this work. As a new mom in corporate America, she found that she yearned to work from home with her girls near and still exercise her creative muscles. This is how she began the beautiful business that you’ll learn about today. I won’t spoil the episode for you, but I think you’ll find that your heart will just expand and you’ll feel giddy listening to her tell her stories just like I did. And I hope you feel a little more comforted and less alone as well.

Trish speaks about her postpartum anxiety, challenges in breastfeeding, and what actually motivated her to begin working in this field. As she tells you her process for making this jewelry and the extra thigns she does to ensure that your piece is sacred and infused with the love and energy that you desire for it to be, try not to cry.
