Siders Family: A Judge Approved WHAT At Age 15?!

Siders Family: A Judge Approved WHAT At Age 15?!

Before there were sixteen children in a five-room house on Ohmer Street, there was one fifteen-year-old girl and a judge's signature on a marriage license — because Ohio, at the time, set no minimum age for marriage at all. That girl grew up to be Elizabeth Siders, and she's now one of four adults facing sixty-eight felony counts of child endangerment out of Hamden, Ohio.

The case broke open when Vinton County deputies arrived to serve a misdemeanor warrant and instead found sixteen kids living in the house, several of whom couldn't speak or read and had never been enrolled in a school. The Attorney General called it "pure evil." The sheriff said livestock gets treated better. And the AG's use of the word intrafamilial hints this story isn't finished being told.

Here's the part worth sitting with live: every one of those sixteen children was born in a hospital. One roughly every thirteen months, for eighteen years straight. Not one nurse or doctor said a word. Ohio gutted its homeschool oversight in 2023, which meant no school ever came looking for kids who didn't exist on paper. The state that let a fifteen-year-old get married with a judge's blessing is the same state that then lost track of her children for two decades.

Tony's taking this one live — the marriage law, the hospital pattern, the oversight gap, and the four adults now facing charges — and opening the floor for the audience to weigh in on the question nobody's answered yet: was Elizabeth Siders the first victim in that house, or one of the people responsible for it?
