Lindsay Clancy's Husband Believes THIS Killed Their Kids

Three dead children. A mother paralyzed from jumping out of a window. A father who forgave her and sued her doctors. The Lindsay Clancy murder trial begins with jury selection on July 20 — and it may force the most important reckoning with postpartum mental health care this country has ever seen.

Lindsay Clancy is charged with three counts of first-degree murder for the deaths of Cora, five, Dawson, three, and eight-month-old Callan in January 2023. She is not contesting that she killed them. She is arguing she was suffering from postpartum psychosis so severe that a commanding voice told her to take her children so she could take herself.

Her husband, Patrick Clancy, is on the defense witness list. He filed a wrongful death lawsuit blaming her doctors for the deaths of his children. According to court filings, Lindsay was a labor and delivery nurse who recognized something was wrong and ran toward the medical system. She sought treatment from psychiatrists, emergency rooms, and crisis hotlines. She admitted herself to hospitals three times. She was prescribed medication after medication — at least ten different drugs over four months — without a correct diagnosis.

She told her husband and her mother she was having thoughts of harming the children. Her husband begged a nurse to take her off all the medications. They increased her dosage.

A hospital in Providence had her in front of them, scoring in the most severe categories for depression and anxiety. They ruled out bipolar disorder. The lawsuits allege the doctor failed to take an adequate medical history. After the killings, a Columbia University psychiatrist diagnosed her with Bipolar Disorder I with psychosis and postpartum onset.

The trial is expected to last four to eight weeks. A hundred and sixty-eight witnesses. The prosecution must prove she was sane beyond a reasonable doubt.
