On Feb 21, 2005, a call comes into Miami 911 dispatch from a man who says there is a woman, unconscious in a vacant lot with what looks to be a head wound. She has no clothes on and is clinging to life. Officials were sure the person who did this thought she was dead or near death when he dumped her in the vacant lot. As she gained her strength, the victim was able to write down her name as well as some other details for police but she could not remember exactly what happened to her or who did it. Can police figure out who committed this brutal crime before he can strike again? Thirty-two people lost their lives.Many think the police failed to really investigate the arson. The official cause is still listed as "undetermined origin", but many believe it was a man that was thrown out of the bar earlier that night.Almost 50 years later is it still one of New Orleans' deadliest fires. Today we are headed to the Pacific Northwest to just a bit south of Seatle Washington to a town by the name of Lakewood. Lakewood is home to McChord Air Force Base with lots of its residents supported by the base, many of the residents know one another or at least knows a friend of a friend. The small community of around 59,000 people love the area and feel safe here that is until July 4, 1996, that would all change as a monster would pay a visit to Lakewood and change it forever. It is December 20, 1977, when two hunters, out for the afternoon looking to bring home some ducks for Christmas dinner, stumble upon something. Unfortunately for them, that something was not a holiday feast but the body of a woman who, from the looks of it, had been out there for a while. The men called the police immediately and due to the location, two responding counties arrive, Fayette County and Clayton County. As officers look closer they can easily see what was the cause of death: two gunshot wounds to her head. As officers are working to secure the scene and collect evidence, it doesn’t take long to notice something else. They see it is a sleeping bag, but when they pull it from the water, they know it is not empty. Once on the banks, another female body is discovered inside the sleeping bag. Police took her statement and did a sweep of the house. Whoever was in Joan’s apartment earlier was now gone. Fifty-six-year-old Thomas Jones was a reserved kind of fella. He lived modestly and wanted a simple kind of life so the community of Mulford Delaware provided exactly what he wanted and needed. Thomas lived by himself and was a farmer. He owned and operated a small farm but he was not quite your typical farmer. Thomas was a paraplegic but that didn’t stop him from doing what he loved to do including farming his land. It was August 13, 1997, when a hired healthcare nurse stopped by to check on Thomas. The nurse called out his name after not answering the door. As she looked around, she knew something was not quite right. Thomas kept a clean and tidy house and things always had their place. There were dishes on the table and a few papers strewn about. His wheelchair was not in the house, so she ventured outside thinking maybe he was just outside. As she was looking around, she saw something and it was not good. There was a splattering of blood in a line as if something was bleeding as it was walking away. The nurse rushed to call 9-1-1. This is just the start of a twisted tale as it just weirder from here.
