How Police Connected D4vd's Pool To Celeste's Remains

Day 3 of d4vd's preliminary hearing revealed the physical evidence linking his garage to Celeste Rivas Hernandez's body — fragments of a blue inflatable pool, cut with a sharp object, found on the fourteen-year-old's leggings months after she disappeared from Lake Elsinore.

LAPD trace analyst Lisa LaHendro, with over two decades of experience, testified about the pool's "scalloped and straight" cuts and the recovered fragments. Criminalist Samantha Tosch confirmed that DNA from Burke's Tesla and Hollywood Hills rental matched Celeste. Lauren Wallace described cleaned blood throughout the garage where prosecutors allege the dismemberment occurred.

The defense got its moments. Blair Berk established that two small chainsaws tested negative for blood and their handles were never swabbed for DNA. She confirmed multiple people lived in the residence. The strategy is clear — someone else had access. But the prosecution countered with Detective Roecker's cell tower testimony placing Burke's Tesla and phone on the road to Santa Barbara County the night Celeste allegedly died, with two return trips in May. Her passport card was found along that same Highway 154 corridor. He charged his EV in Santa Ynez.

Also in the garage: jugs of fake blood. The defense says music videos — Burke's alter ego Itami traffics in dark imagery, and "Romantic Homicide" has over a billion Spotify plays. The prosecution says look at the real blood cleaned from the surfaces in the same room.

Burke has pleaded not guilty. The bindover ruling could come any day. Celeste was fourteen. Her remains were found the day after what would have been her fifteenth birthday.
