Entering The Chat: Are Internal Exams Necessary For Pelvic Floor Therapy?

We’re entering the chat: Is the internal exam necessary to assess the pelvic floor? There has been a lot of buzz on social media and arguments between pelvic floor therapists on whether or not internal exams are necessary (especially within the past few weeks). So we’re here today to give our stance on this.

The fact that this is even a discussion begs the question: what is the greater purpose of calling into question the gold standard assessment tool of a healthcare practice that has been through the ringer to advocate for women’s healthcare access, quality of care, and improved outcomes.
