You Become What You Tolerate in Yourself - EP 306

You Become What You Tolerate in Yourself - EP 306

It's 11:14 at night. You're in bed, phone in your hand. You told yourself two hours ago you'd be asleep by 10:30. You're not. You scroll one more reel, then one more. You check email even though nothing's new.

Nobody sees this moment but you. Your wife is asleep next to you. Your kids are down the hall. Your team is offline. The only person watching what you do right now in the dark is you. And that is where the rot starts.

You've heard me say it before. You become what you tolerate. Most of the time when I say that I'm talking about your business, your team, the leader who treats people like garbage, the manager who keeps missing the number. Today I want to talk about the harder version. The one nobody can fix for you. What you tolerate in yourself.

The thing that takes great operators out is almost never the market. It's not the competitor down the street. It's not the recession. It's the slow personal drift. The second drink that becomes three. The workout you skipped Monday that turned into a skipped February. The conversation you keep avoiding. The "I'll start Monday" you've said for fourteen Mondays.

Here's what's brutal about it. Nobody else sees it. Your team sees a leader. Your customers see someone who has it together. Your wife sees a tired husband working hard. But you see the gap between who you say you are and what you actually did when nobody was looking. That gap is everything and the longer you carry it the heavier it gets.

This one is about self-discipline, self-sabotage and the quiet daily habits that build or destroy high performers over time. I get into why the same skill that runs your business also runs your personal drift, why nothing that happens to you is ever really sudden, it's just suddenly visible and the one small thing I want you to do this week to start closing the gap. Not five non-negotiables. Not a ninety day transformation. One thing you don't break, because identity isn't built on big promises. It's built one rep at a time.

If you're sitting in your truck or at your desk right now thinking he's talking about me, this episode is for you.
