Donald Trump reportedly left Turkey via a catering truck and boarded a military aircraft in secret following last month's NATO summit in Ankara, after US officials received intelligence about a potential threat from Iran.

According to reports in The New York Times and The Washington Post, even the journalists travelling with him believed the president was heading home on Air Force One, while a decoy aircraft was used to disguise his movements.

So what happened, how unusual was it for the White House to conceal the president's whereabouts, and what does it tell us about the threat Trump faces from Iran? Also, If Air Force One was acting as a decoy, were journalists unknowingly put in harm's way while the president was moved elsewhere?
