Mystrikast — The Shared Burden of Justification

This episode takes on one of the most common questions in religious debate: “What evidence do atheists have that there is no God?”

There is a fair question buried in there, but also a few hidden traps. It often treats “God” as one clearly defined thing, when the word can mean a personal creator, a distant deistic cause, the universe itself, an impersonal ground of being, or something placed beyond all possible testing. It also often assumes that believers get to sit back while atheists, agnostics, non-theists, and sceptics carry all the intellectual weight.

Mystrikism rejects that arrangement.

The Mystrikal view is that every considered cognitive position carries a burden of justification. Belief, disbelief, non-belief, and suspended judgement all need reasons if they are being presented as intellectually serious. That does not mean all positions have the same burden, or that every conclusion is equally likely. It means nobody gets a free pass.

We walk through the difference between proof, disproof, support, undermining, justification, and provisional rejection. We look at why facts do not explain themselves — a wet road might mean rain, a sprinkler, a burst pipe, or a street-cleaning truck — and why evidence only supports a conclusion when sound reasoning connects the two.

We also explore ROVRRTTELF, Mystrikism’s evidence-checking toolkit: reliability, objectivity, verification, reproducibility, relevance, trustworthiness, transparency, empiricism, logical coherence, and falsifiability. These standards do not produce certainty like a machine. They help us check the tools before trusting the job.

The episode finishes with Mystrikism’s current position: agnostic about knowledge of gods, and provisionally non-theist in belief. Not because atheism wins by default. Not because every possible god has been disproven. But because no god claim has yet earned Mystrikal belief, while some defined god-concepts are reasonably and provisionally rejectable.

No label is rational just because of the label.

Belief must be supported. Rejection must be defended. Uncertainty must be explained.
